Texas-based Commercial Metals Co. will increase its concrete reinforcement bar capacity through a Berkeley County, W.V. greenfield operation, scheduled for late-2025 start up. Dubbed MM4 with a budget upward of $450 million, the plant represents the producer’s fourth micro mill tailored to straight length and spooled rebar, and will have projected annual capacity of 500,000 tons.
“West Virginia offers several attractive advantages for MM4, including a welcoming business climate and skilled available labor force,” says CMC CEO Barbara Smith. “The planned site, located in the eastern panhandle of the state near Martinsburg, is well-situated to serve key metropolitan markets in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, as well as the Midwest.”
